For nearly twenty years Mark Coltrin has lived and worked in and around Washington DC — from his humble beginnings at Starpower as an account executive in charge of some of the largest property management companies in the region, to his time building commercial accounts for a family-owned satellite company, Mark paid his dues. In 2011, Mark launched his own business development company.

Coltrin Consulting, LLC puts the “who” in who, the “what” in what, the “why” in why, and the “where” in where. From working with some of the largest cable companies in the market to the smallest office movers, Coltrin Consulting, LLC provides your company with a better way to find new opportunities, period.

Starpower-Now Rebranded RCN

Mark Coltrin, the founder of Coltrin Consulting LLC, started out in the industry as a member of Starpower, where he managed portfolios for clients throughout New England. Mark proved himself by finding, developing, and implementing solutions for his clients’ television, internet, and phone service needs, as well as identifying new customers and clients for Starpower by working with industry professionals, government contractors, hotels, universities, health care centers, and others.

This work involved managing accounts, bringing ideas from the drawing board to the board room, and helping small businesses use the new technology to grow. While working at Starpower, Mark learned the ins and outs of the audio-visual industry and made valuable connections with industry leaders that he keeps up with to this day. He also learned about the trials faced by small businesses and how these trials can be faced with the right resources.

After a healthy run atStarpower, Mark began working at Muzak’s offices in Alexandria Virginia where he ran their Dish Network Video Services Department.Mark was in charge of setting up development as well as implementing the Dish Network Video Services within Muzak offices in Northern Virginia. This required uncovering new business opportunities, planning, organizing and implementing sales strategies within Muzak, and expanding the businesses customer base by reaching out into new areas and markets. While at Muzak, Mark continued to grow the list of powerful industry contacts that he had started at Starpower. He also continued to hone his keen eye for identifying new opportunities and telling a valuable lead from a dead end.

Directv-Agent/Reseller

Moving on from Muzak, Mark spent 13 plus years working with a local reseller/agent , providing video solutions in Washington DC market. This required initiating market strategies to influence the market in the area, reaching agreements with local businesses to fit everyone’s best interests, locating and proposing new business deals, and screening and contacting potential clients, as needed While filling these roles, Mark became more intimately familiar with the needs and struggles of business owners in a wide variety of industries. He also learned how organizations of different sizes can work together in mutually beneficial relationships, as well as how to set up a meeting, immediately tell a good match from a bad match, and take a good match through an initial meeting to a project proposal to meeting the client’s needs.
